VGP completes €10 mio investment

Turnhout/Riga, 11 March 2026 – Van Genechten Packaging (VGP) has completed a €10 million investment in its Latvian subsidiary, VG Kvadra Pak JSC. The company officially opened its expanded production facility in Riga on 10 March, enhancing its position as a key packaging partner in the Baltic and Nordic markets and reaffirming VGP’s long-term commitment to Latvia as a strategic manufacturing location.

The project was completed according to schedule and became operational on 1 March 2026.

The expanded facility provides state-of-the-art technology, advanced converting equipment and expanded, energy-efficient storage space. Beyond increasing capacity, the investment improves working conditions and reinforces the company’s ambition to remain a leader in technology and innovation in the region.

A strategic investment for Northern Europe

Frank Ohle, CEO of the Van Genechten Packaging Group, highlights the strategic importance of the investment:

A complex project, completed alongside ongoing production

Constructing an expanded facility while maintaining full production continuity presented significant operational challenges. 

We had to dismantle existing infrastructure, including a 40-metre-high building, while ensuring production continued uninterrupted,” Vasiļevskis explains. “High food safety standards and quality requirements remained non-negotiable throughout the process. Our teams demonstrated exceptional commitment in delivering the project safely and efficiently.” 

The construction works were carried out by UPB Nams LTD, one of Latvia’s leading industrial construction companies.
