Value Engineering in an inflationary market

Here at Van Genechten Packaging we're always looking for ways to surprise and delight customers and their consumers, especially in a constantly changing economic climate.

That's why we work proactively with our customers to drive cost efficiency through creativity, design, technology, and process. Our customer-oriented approach to Value Engineering aims to optimise every aspect of your packaging, from material to logistics, to reduce cost, increase value and create packaging as unique as the products it houses.

Where experience meets creativity

With almost 190 years of experience to draw on, we understand how to create packaging that gives your product its magic but also what influences or drives cost, where waste can occur. We also know that every product is unique and that an individual approach to cost efficiency, always focusing on the customer's requirements, is key. We analyse both the marketing and technical aspects of your packaging to understand where we can add value to make the provided solutions more attractive and cost efficient.

How the process works

The foundation of VGP's approach to Value Engineering is to question everything. Our Design and Development teams, combining experience from across our network, look at your packaging with fresh eyes and a whole lot of imagination.

From there, we go back to basics. Analysing our design, your materials, how it is constructed, your full supply chain, the machinery it's produced on and more. All with the goal of discovering where, together, we can increase process efficiency, reduce board consumption by driving out waste. Following this analysis, we identify the areas where direct, mid, and long-term savings can be created. We'll also suggest where a change of material can create a unique point of difference. The output of this process is an individual menu from which our customers can pick the cost-saving options that support their own strategic goals. Following your own internal review, we adapt our proposals and help you to implement them.

Our customers have, so far, been amazed at how comprehensively we study their package and delighted by our pro-active approach, our creativity and the results it brings them. Why not experience it for yourself?

Growing sustainably together

VGP provide inspiring packaging solutions that offer strong shelf impact but also help our customers to reduce their environmental impact and increase competitiveness. Our value engineering process works in 5 steps.

  1. Information gathering: conduct functional and cost analysis
  2. Creative thinking: brainstorm ideas and possible solutions
  3. Evaluate: select ideas to develop further and estimate the cost-saving impact
  4. Develop: conduct in-depth analysis of chosen ideas including timing and risks of implementation
  5. Implementation: speed to market
